This week has been great!

Dear Family,

This week has been great! The area is really cool and we have plenty to do. First, is our investigator, Taylor Watson. She is really nice. She is 21, has a young daughter named Montana, and was set to be baptized on the 21st of February. She missed church this week though, so we need to move that back a bit. She missed because she is having some hard times with her family and friends right now. Her mom had to go to the hospital and her friend got in a car wreck. She should be all goods soon though.

On Friday, we went to go mow a lady's lawn. We have been telling her for a few weeks we would, but weren't able to get a lawn mower, so she was getting a bit annoyed... being called every week just to hear us say we had to reschedule. So, we decided to just surprise her with the lawn mower when we got it. We show up, and are waiting for the mower to arrive. After about 30 minutes, the cops show up. They ask what we are doing and we explained. They said they had gotten a call that two young men... one black, one white, both dressed in black, had been sitting on an old lady's porch for 30 minutes. Ha ha!  Super awkward, but she heard us talking and came out and backed us up. I guess one of her neighbors had called in for her. Good on them I guess. The cool thing, though, is that when I introduced myself being from Portland, she said her kids live there and she visits every year! She lives on 43rd (I think) and said she will go there in the spring and will be staying a long time to get citizenship, so she said she will be there in June and we should meet up! Ha ha, so cool! She is a great lady. Her name is Hwang.

We taught a guy named Ronald too. He had tons of questions about so many different doctrines, but finally, after about an hour of discussion, we were able to help him understand something. Although we answered all his questions and he now understands what we believe... he is no closer to knowing what he wants to believe. So, we explained that the first step to investigating the church of Jesus Christ is reading the Book of Mormon. Once he has done that, he can build the rest of his learning on that testimony. So, he committed to read up through Jacob by Saturday (he is already halfway through 2 Nephi) and we will see him again then.

The last person I want to talk about is Ultra. We met her just last night. We were biking home from church at 7:30 (long story) and we saw her walking up ahead of us, so we caught up and hopped off the bikes to keep pace with her and we started talking. She has family in Adelaide that are members and she wanted to learn more, so we followed her home and taught a bit of the first lesson. She has lots of questions and concerns but the important thing is that she said she was looking for comfort and truth in this world of confusion and sadness and she knows that we have it. So, she is going to read through 1 Nephi 5 by Thursday and we will see her again then.

Elder Tapumanaia is great. He is so funny! He loves being a missionary and loves to laugh. It's pretty weird living with the zone leaders, but they aren't as bad as I thought they would be. Our flat is super hot and has no air conditioner, so Elder Tapumanaia and I have been sleeping outside. Ha ha. No more though, because I have like twenty mosquito bites with about half on my face. Not fun.

I almost smacked some kids at church today... so bad. None of the parents were even trying to control them either. Honestly, my kids are gonna be so good... or so bruised. Either way, as long as they turn out all right I'll be happy :).

Love you all!
Elder Jamison
