Australia Day

Elder Jamison is unable to write home this week since the library where he accesses his email is closed for Australia Day.  To learn more about Australia Day, visit:

Although we don't have a letter to post, we have several pictures that he sent us from his birthday excursion on preparation day last week.

Shark wrestling

Hey hey. What up y'all?

This week has been really cool. Albany is such a beautiful area! And the best part... the crazies are back! I had forgotten how much I loved crazy people!

There is a family in our ward called the Renfreys (Rainfreeze). I don't really know how to say or spell it, but that is my best guess. They are from Tasmania. There are some stereotypes that go along with that for those of you who don't know. Tasmanians are like the hillbillies of Australia. So, this guy brother Renfreys told us a story about when he lived there. He decided one day to go and catch a shark because he had never done it before. So, he goes out in his 10 ft row boat and pretty soon finds a shark - a 15 ft tiger shark. He then starts to beat it with his oar and stab it with a harpoon. He is wrestling with it for a few good minutes while the whole town is watching from shore. He finally stuns it enough to drag it into his boat - which is like half-sunk by now. He rows back to shore and feeds the whole town that night. Now, I know what you are all thinking - that there is no way the story is true. But I promise that the way this guy told it I know it is 100% true. Maybe it's a little embellished, but the event happened. His little girl told me she saw it and his wife did too.

The branch I am in is so great and we have so much going on. We found nine new investigators this week as a companionship, 18 as a district, and we broke the zone record for new investigators in a week too. Good things are happening in this area! Elder Cram (my new companion) is great! He is from Hawaii and is really cool. He was companions with Elder May too, so we have a link there.

I love you all so much and can't wait to bear hug you all. I wanted to share a quick scripture I found in personal study last week. It is in D&C 7:8. I'm not gonna lie. Sometimes D&C can be pretty dry, but this scripture was really cool. Joseph Smith is having revelation of the promise made to John the beloved - how he would remain on the earth until Jesus came again, and peter was told he would be speedily brought to dwell with Christ in His kingdom. It says, "Verily I say unto you, ye shall both have according to your desires, for ye both joy in that which ye have desired." That just helped me to understand that we are blessed according to our desires, no matter what they are. That is all part of agency. I have been pretty focused on desire for a while. We are judged, blessed, and we act according to our desires. I want mine to always be in line with God's commandments. That verse also helped me know even more that life is about having joy, which will come to us through our righteous desires. I'm gonna start getting really repetitive here in a sec so I'll just stop now.

I love you!

Transferring to Albany

Hey everybody!

I'm getting transferred again. I'm going far south to Albany. It is like Portland climate. I'm excited to go there! I'm going to be with Elder Cram. I have met him before. He is really cool, He's from Hawaii.

This week has been pretty cool, well not really, more like super hot. It was freakin' 45° the other day (113°F). Super hot sweating all the time. I'm a little sad to leave this area, but I'm excited to go country. They have a branch there that is pretty small.

I'm so happy to hear all the cool things you are doing! I love you all so much! I have come to know more about myself and about who I am this last week. I know more of who I want to be and how I can get there. I cannot wait to continue to do all I can to serve God! The work here is so amazing, as it is all around the world! Never get discouraged no matter what! YOU CAN DO IT! Whatever it is that you want to do, go and do it. Be who you want to be. Our Heavenly Father blesses us according to our desires. If your desire is to follow Jesus Christ, YOU CAN DO IT! That is what I want, all I want is to be happy and I know that Jesus Christ, and the things he asks of us, make me happy. Do what makes you happy! I have a testimony of this work. I know that true and lasting happiness comes from abiding by the principles taught to us by Jesus Christ!

Don't stop believing (unless your dream is stupid. Then, you should get a better dream....).

I love you,
Elder Jamison

Keep being awesome and never stop having fun and joy

Hey everybody!

This week has been sick! I got a letter from the Hursts from Nipomo. Jacob is on his mission in Minnisota! Im so pupmped for him! He left just last month and is doing great!

Last night we were having a district dinner and Sister Waith goes... you know what I don't even remember her exact words but the schools here teach that there are 52 states.  Ha ha isn't that the coolest?! I know where Jay Leno finds his people to interview now!

Do you remember the people I wrote you about forever ago? The dad's name is Muhammad and the son is Benni?  Elder Bunda and I taught them then referred them to the sister missionaries. Well, they are getting baptized now! Cool huh! I'm pretty excited.

Elder Elkington and I have been working really hard this week. We got to see Matt again. I have been feeling really down because I haven't seen him in forever. We will be seeing him every Wednesday now. Please pray for him and his family. They have been struggling recently.

We found two other new investigators too, one named James Dean and another named Naomi. They are really cool. I am excited to start teaching them. Naomi is aboriginal and James Dean is just a boss with two girls who are 6 and 13. I love my area so much. The families in our ward are amazing.

Sorry I didn't send you any pictures last week. I forgot to bring my camera. I ran out of space on my memory cards too. The only one that the store had were 16 Gigs and they were like $40! I was not happy.

Dang, time goes by so fast. I hit my 7 month mark yesterday and school is already in again. Before we know it, I will hit a year, Michael will graduate, Zippy will be a senior and 16 years old, I'll be 20, Rachel will be in high school and 14, and Rebekah will just be chillin' in school. Probs she will be married, Gustavo will have his call and everything will be coasting along at top speed. I miss you a lot but I'm so pumped to see all the changes that come from being a missionary.

We went out tracting with a brand new returned missionary yesterday. He is such a stud. His name is Brody Strakee. I also found out that Taylor's name isn't Taylor. It is Tayla. They weren't just saying it with an accent. That is legit how you spell her name. I was super embarrassed.

Well anyway, I love you all so much. Keep being awesome and never stop having fun and joy. That is what life is for.

Love you!
Elder Jamison
