I love being a missionary!

G'day, G'day.

Transfers are this week. Elder Cram is leaving and I'm getting Elder Ropiha... I think that is how you spell his name. He is a stud though, so here's hoping.

Anyways this week has been really good. We have been teaching a lot of good lessons and doing a lot of service. On Tuesday we saw a guy in our ward named Denis Bretherton. He looks after a mentally handicapped man. This guy KILLS at pool. I have never seen anyone play as good as he does. He hits the craziest angles. He even took the time to let me catch up at the end then schooled me again. I was totally amazed by him.

On Thursday, Elder Cram and I went stargazing... like men. We were over in Mt. Barker and the stars are INSANE there.

In sacrament meeting, there were two talks about welfare. The second talk was all about how you can start small with your food storage and it will eventually become really fun. The second hour lesson was really good. Our Ward Mission Leader taught about faith. I love that guy! I love being a missionary! This life is da best!

Love you all!

G'Day. How ya goin'?

G'Day. How ya goin'?

This week has been great! Lots of miracles! The Zone Leaders came down on Monday and left on Wednesday. Plus, the Sister Training Leaders came on Wednesday and left on Friday. Tons of fun.

So, when the Zone leaders first got off the bus they met this lady. She wanted to learn more about our church, so Elder Cram and I met with her on Wednesday and taught her the first lesson. She had tons of questions and was very receptive. We are seeing her again today at 3:00. She is a great lady, who I believe will be baptized.

We weren't able to meet with Eva this week, sad day, but we should be seeing her and meeting her son on Thursday or Friday. Then, on Saturday we went to a place called Tambellup with our Young Men's President. We went to see all the young men that live there, there are about 3. We couldn't see one of them, but we met the other two! They are named Newie and Tai. They live on a ranch with three horses and tons of old junkie cars. Neither of them have been baptized or met missionaries before. They want to come to activities and are great kids. They are like 13 and 16. Their step-dad isn't a member either. He left school at age 9 to start working, and left home at 13 to work as a truck driver. He is pretty cool.

Then, in church, sacrament was happening. Then, we went to see the Area Authority broadcast. It was really cool. It helped me get pumped up again to do the Lord's work. I can't wait to get started again! They were saying how it seems like it is always someone else's responsibility to do something, but we need to be doers, not watchers. I don't do it justice but it was really cool.

I love you all so much!

A deaf guy, beautiful sisters, humility

¿QuĂ© pasa, calabaza?

I've had three people tell be I sound like Jesse Eisenberg this week - my companion and two other missionaries. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.  He is in Rio and the Social Network. I guess he is pretty cool.

We were tracting on Tuesday and I have a pretty good story from it. So, we rock up to this door. Normal day, normal door, We knock on the door and almost immediately an old guy answers it - probably only a one to two second pause after the knock. He asks us what we want and we say to teach him about Jesus Christ. He goes, "Oh, sorry. I'm deaf." Then, I yell really loud, "Can we help you out at all today?" He didn't hear me, so we left and wished him a good day.  About half-way up to the next house, I realize that he had answered the door and asked us what we wanted. He was definitely NOT deaf!! Some people...

We saw Eva on Thursday. She is the lady that came to church out of nowhere last Sunday. We had a great lesson with her and she expressed the desire to be baptized. She really wants to be baptized with her husband, but isn't sure if he will do it. We told her to pray about it and see what God wants her to do. She is doing it this week and we will see her again probably on Friday. I am so excited to be teaching her! She reminds me a lot of Grandma Sandy - super fun and spunky and one of the nicest ladies I have ever met. She is getting baptized for sure. I don't know if it will be this transfer. Probably not, but I think it will be within the next few weeks.

On Saturday, we drove up to Perth with our ward mission leader to see stake conference. It was pretty cool... kinda. It was actually super hot, in comparison. It feels hotter because Albany is so freaking cold! Stake conference was good, but DANG... there were so many young women! Young women, YSA girls, and Sister missionaries swarming EVERYWHERE!! What da heck? It was hard to stay focused! Ha ha! I don't know if it is my missionary goggles or if I am really lucky but there are some beautiful Sisters here. #heaven

When we were in Perth, we went on splits with our Zone Leaders. We taught this little girl named Alyssabeth, who is autistic. She kept going off about how she had powers and could turn into a mermaid. Elder Day was getting a little frustrated because he wanted to teach, so I just took the bullet and talked to the little girl FOREVER about powers and stuff. I love little kids. They are so funny. Their imagination almost compares to mine... anyway. We also met an Italian guy who lost all faith in religion. He was in an Italian concentration camp in WWII. After that, the Catholic church stole all his money away. He was pretty bitter about it. It was really sad. I didn't even know how to help him, but I thought about Alma teaching the poor Zoramites in the Book of Mormon and I felt a little better.  I have been thinking a lot about humility lately. The people there were compelled to be humbled it says, it says that being humble willingly is better but if necessary, we need to be compelled to be humble. I like to think that I am a humble person, but if I am not, then I pray that I will be compelled to be humble. I am so sick of pride, it is pretty much the only factor in us sinning. We always give in to pride when we sin. So, in the words of President Uchdorf... STOP IT! No more sinning for me or for yous.

Anyway... I love you all and I cant wait to split a pizza with you!

G'day from down unda!

Okay, so last week I got shocked by a cattle fence. We were doing service at this guy's house and I was emptying his lawn mower over the fence. I didn't know it was electric, so I leaned on it and I got a massive shock to the rib cage. It felt like someone was punching me. It hurt really bad, but I'm all goods.

We had a ward activity for Australia Day on Monday. I went fishing with all the little kids and I caught one.

It was the only one we caught - probably because we were using sausages for bait.

I kissed it as per the OZ culture and threw it back.
We had said a prayer that we would catch a fish with all the little kids and promised we would send it back if we caught it. Dang I love little kids so much! I love teaching them and spending time with them so much. They really are so close to heaven, They have so much joy and happiness in them. I can't wait to be a dad and have kids of my own.

I'm starting to get a sick accent! Not really though. I can turn it on now and it is more like a Kiwi accent, but it's slowly coming along. This week was pretty sick ay. We went to this less active lady's house. Her name is Marlane. She got an Ipad a few months ago and is playing all these crazy games on it, but she was having trouble with her email. She was getting all these dirty emails from a male enhancement company so she had us try to get them to stop. We tried to just send them to the spam folder, but the company is using like 30 different email addresses to send them. We are gonna go over again this week and try to figure it out. Marlane is really cool. She is great at fishing, which is like my new favorite thing. She has a pretty cute dog too. There was a MASSIVE thunder storm when we were at her house. I tried to film it but I didn't get any lightning.

It is so cool that the Bergerons received their endowments! It is so good to see them stay so active in the church. There are so many more less active members than I ever realized there were! It is a little frustrating.

Church was pretty good. First, there was the really old guy in High Priests that was visiting. He was SO crazy! He was really weird and had to comment on EVERYTHING. I also noticed that High Priests make a lot of jokes about them dying soon.  We had two investigators there, Neil and Eva Betts. Neil stayed for all three hours, has been keeping all his commitments, and had friends all throughout church. He seemed golden, but after church, I went to set up another appointment. He said he didn't want us to come back. It hurt, but its all right. That is what happens in missionary work.  Eva came out of the blue. She has never come to church and we didn't expect her to, but she did. So, now she is that much closer to baptism.

In Gospel Principles on Sunday, Brother Renfreys was all, "When I meet Judas... him and me are gonna have words." Ha ha, he is the one from Tasmania that wrestled a shark. Anyway... another funny thing that happened was in priesthood, we do a weekly scripture thought. The Elders Quorum president did it this week and then asked a Deacon in the branch to do the next one. He goes, "Who me? Aw dammit!" It's funny because the only ones who think that dammit is a bad word are me and Elder Cram, so we started busting up laughing and no one understood why. Good times.

I love you all so much!
